Design Systems Designer

Your role

As a Design Systems Designer, you will shape and maintain a mature and scalable design system that keeps products consistent, accessible, and efficient to build. You’ll work inside our client’s Experience Team while staying connected to Dentsu Creative, giving you the balance of embedded product collaboration and an agency community for support and inspiration.

You’ll split your time between the client’s office for 2 days a week and our Dentsu Creative office for 1 to 2 days a week. The setup is flexible and designed to keep you close to both design and development teams.

You bring structure, clarity, and a systems mindset. You enjoy thinking in patterns, tokens, components, and documentation, and you know how to turn a design system into a living product that teams love to use.

What you will be doing

• Creating, maintaining, and evolving design system components, patterns, and tokens

• Documenting guidelines, usage rules, and best practices in a clear and accessible way

• Working in Figma and Frontify (or similar tools) to manage component libraries at scale, ensuring every component is aligned with its coded counterpart

• Partnering closely with developers to ensure design and code stay aligned

• Supporting designers with adoption, onboarding, and daily use of the system

• Auditing journeys to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for system improvements

• Bringing an experimentation mindset to workflows, exploring AI tools that boost system governance and documentation
  

Your profile

• Proven experience working with design systems at scale (as a designer or systems specialist)

• Strong understanding of interaction design, UI patterns, accessibility, and component logic

• Comfortable creating components, tokens, styles, and clear documentation in Figma

• Able to collaborate closely with developers and translate design intent into implementation-ready guidance

• Good communicator who enjoys helping others adopt and use systems

• Able to work independently inside a client team while staying connected to Dentsu Creative

• Confident in English; Dutch is a plus

• Based in or willing to relocate to the Netherlands (near Amsterdam)

Bonus points

• Experience with design system tooling, such as Storybook or Frontify

• Interest in AI-assisted documentation, code alignment, or automated audits

• Experience contributing to open-source or multi-product design systems

• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG)
